Howdy, my name is Travis O'Shell (He, Him, His) and I'm serving as the SGA Director of Academic Affairs for the 2016-2017 academic year. Last year in SGA, I had the opportunity to represent students involved in Greek Life, and I'm absolutely stoked to have gotten the chance to be further involved this year.
Coming from Cornelius, NC, my time at Appalachian began in August 2014. Now a junior, I'm double-majoring in Political Science: Pre-Professional Legal Studies and Communication Studies. Outside of SGA, I also serve as secretary for Appalachian's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, an IFC fraternity on campus.
Since my freshman year, I've grown more and more attached to Appalachian, not just the place but all the people that come along with it. I have witnessed, firsthand, a multitude of the limitless ways that our university is able to touch and transform the lives of students. As Director of Academic Affairs, I have been given the opportunity to work with various administrators and faculty members across campus in an effort to ensure our university can continue to reach students in the most effective way possible.
SGA exists to serve students. Believe me, we mean that when we say it. The SGA Office is located on the second floor of the student union and its doors are open to all students at all times. If you see a problem on campus that you think should be addressed, have a good idea for us to work on, or just want to come see what we're up to, you are more than welcome to stop in. We want to hear what you have to say.
